First Steps 2025: 31 March – 26 April

Eastside’s annual exhibition for artists who are new, or nearly new, to exhibiting is back for 2025 with a huge variety of works from 14 local artists in Eastside and another 10 in the Mini Gallery. This not-to-be-missed exhibition showcases impressive local talent.
Nothing over $600.
Opening Event: 5.30-7pm Monday 31 March 2025, all welcome.
Location: Eastside Gallery, 388 Worcester St, Christchurch, free parking onsite.

Arts Canterbury Juried Show 2025: 3-29 March

Arts Canterbury members are encouraged to submit their best artworks for the annual juried exhibition. This year 25 local artists have been selected by three independent jurors: Felicity Milburn, Gerard Smyth and Pippa Judge.
5 awards were given out on opening night.
 
Three Jurors Merit Awards, sponsored by The Drawing Room, went to:
 
  • Anna Waaka Bartlett with “Whenua.”
  • Janet Brady with “Mitre Peak Milford Sound.”
  • Kellie Spence with “Light from within.”
The Excellence in Fine Art Award, sponsored by Arts Canterbury, went to:
 
  • Isabelle Wannenburg with “Kaikoura.”
The Eastside Development Award went to:
 
  • Meg Maguire with “The Conversation.”
The public now has the opportunity to vote for the Peoples’ Choice’ Award, sponsored by Gordon Harris.
