Embark on a creative journey with our 11 weekly art classes and activities, catering to artists of all ages and skill levels. Discover the joy of artistic expression through a wide range of classes, from beginner-friendly drawing and painting to dance and creative writing. Whether you’re seeking a therapeutic art for wellbeing session or a free class for the family to do together, we have something for everyone.
You can join most of our classes anytime and do as many as you like. There’s usually no enrolment but numbers are limited by the space in the room so book ahead to avoid disappointment. You can book as many dates as you like up to 8 weeks in advance by emailing arts@tewhare.org or phoning 981 2881. Please make sure you give us a phone number when you book.
Fees range from free to $5, $10 or $15 per class. Concession cards are available and reduce the cost of a class by $5 each, unless it is an enrolled block course, in which case there is one set fee. A 6-click concession card costs $30 and 10-click costs $50 (each click is worth $5). These cards can be used to pay for any of our Centre-run classes and are valid for a year from the date of purchase.
Our commitment to fostering creativity extends beyond our regular class schedule. Outside opening hours, we hire our spaces for arts-related activities and events, as well as community meetings. Current regular activities include Life Drawing on Tuesday evenings, African Drum and Dance on Wednesday evenings, and a Writers’ Group on Sunday mornings.
Please note that we don’t offer any classes that are suitable to bring children under 6 years old. Some classes are suitable for children aged 6-13 but they must be accompanied by a caregiver (except the free kids classes which do not require this). Please check the specific class you’re interested in before bringing children. The expectation is that the caregiver will do the class as well, alongside the youngster. They’re great activities to do together!

Classes for Kids
Kids have loads of opportunities to explore and deepen their art skills. We run free after school classes for 7-9 year olds who live in the Inner City East (see kids page for suburbs), and kids love our Free Art Saturday classes, which is a great activity for the whole family. Kids can join many of our other classes, as long as they're accompanied by a caregiver and there's no age restriction stated (eg kids aged 10 and up can go to Paint & Draw Animals on Tuesdays 3.30-5pm).
