“Our Life II” The White Room: 2-21 May 2022

posted in: Eastside Gallery, Past | 0

Following on from last year’s ‘Our Life’ at Eastside Gallery, this exhibition again provides an insight into the lives of artists who live with intellectual disabilities and features the work of 24 artists.

Opening Event: 5.30-7pm Monday 2 May 2022

The White Room Creative Space was developed in late 2014 in response to a growing need to foster and develop the creative talent of people supported by SkillWise. The White Room advocates for the artists’ inclusion in contemporary arts practice through supporting their art making, participation in exhibitions and other creative projects.

While the work has been produced during the pandemic it has had little impact on the artists creative output, showing the desire to create, whatever the situation, is a powerful force. The subject matter of the work is as diverse as the lives of the artists who have created it. ‘Our Life II’ offers a view into each of their worlds and an insight into their creative starting points. As with many artists, there is rarely an end point or a solution

Opening Hours at Linwood Arts: Tuesday-Saturday. Classes start from 10am and run throughout the day; galleries open 12noon-5pm; evening activities start from 5pm.
Location: 388 Worcester Street, Christchurch, free parking onsite.

“Jeffery" by Isaac Tait, acrylic on paper, 2021.
"The Arts Centre" by Gary Buchanan, acrylic on canvas, 2022.
"Whānau Wallpaper" by Andrea Monds, collage on wallpaper, 2022.
