  • 7-28 November: Chinese Line Drawing (Bai Miao)
Let artist Claudia Du XinZhu introduce you to key concepts in traditional Chinese art while learning techniques that focus on the flowing expression of lines and composition. Brushwork techniques will help participants translate the fluidity of ink into their graphite line work. Each class will introduce a different and progressing theme – meditative lines, florals, birds, landscapes and/or portraits. Participants can stick to one theme if they wish. After the first introductory session, they will have the option to try freehand drawing or tracing. They will be encouraged to explore creative personal expression through precise linework while being mindful of balance and simplicity, inspired by Chinese philosophy and art. Drawing is used in this class as a meditative practice to promote mindfulness and flow, to encourage focus, patience, and immersion in the artistic process.
