Linwood Arts runs free art classes for 6-13 year olds who live in Christchurch’s Inner City East* on a half yearly enrolment basis.
The next cohort will runs from 22 July – 12 December 2024.
We are looking for kids who are keen on art and who can commit to a one-hour class per week for two terms. The times are as follows:
- Tuesdays 3.30 – 4.30pm 6 year olds from 23 July – 10 December (no classes during school holidays)
- Wednesdays 3.30-4.30pm 7/8/9 year olds from 24 July – 11 December (no classes during school holidays)
- Thursdays 3.30-4.30pm 10-13 year olds from 25 July – 12 December (no classes during school holidays)
The classes are taught by professional artists with teaching experience and an assistant. There will be a maximum of 11 children per class.
Each week a particular technique will be role-modelled but there will also be a choice of art activities available so that the children can decide for themselves what they would like to begin with.
* For these classes the Inner City East is defined as CHCH Central, Phillipstown, Linwood, Bromley, Wainoni, Aranui, Dallington, Avonside, Richmond & Edgeware. These boundaries are subject to review each semester.
